We are seeking a highly skilled and ambitious Corporate Lawyer to join our dynamic legal team based in Dubai. The ideal candidate will possess a strong track record of navigating the complexities of international trade law, with specific expertise across UAE, UK, and European jurisdictions. This role is pivotal in managing our firm's diverse portfolio of commercial litigation and international arbitration cases. You will be responsible for providing strategic legal counsel, drafting and negotiating high-value contracts, and representing the company in complex dispute resolution proceedings. The position demands a commercially astute lawyer who can offer proactive advice on regulatory compliance, including sanctions and anti-bribery matters. Your ability to manage cross-jurisdictional legal challenges and devise effective dispute resolution strategies will be critical to our success. Requirements
1. Qualified lawyer in a common law jurisdiction (e.g., England & Wales, Australia, Canada) with 5+ years of post-qualification experience.
2. Demonstrable experience practicing law in the UAE (DIFC and/or onshore courts) and a major European/UK jurisdiction.
3. Proven expertise in managing complex commercial litigation and international arbitration cases from inception to conclusion.
4. Specialised knowledge of international trade and commodities law, including experience with trade finance and shipping documentation.
5. Experience in handling arbitrations under major institutional rules such as ICC, LCIA, and DIAC.
6. Strong skills in drafting and negotiating high-value, cross-border commercial agreements.
7. In-depth understanding of private international law principles and their application in multi-jurisdictional disputes.
8. Experience advising on international regulatory and compliance matters, including sanctions, AML, and anti-bribery laws.
Desirable
1. Fluency in Arabic is highly advantageous.
2. Experience working in-house within a commodities trading, shipping, or energy company.
3. Admission to the DIFC Courts' Register of Practitioners.
4. A network of professional contacts within the legal communities of Dubai, London, and other European hubs.
5. Master of Laws (LL.M.) in a relevant field such as International Trade Law or Dispute Resolution.
