Senior Presales Manager – Telecom Solutions

Description

byteSpark.ai is supporting a client seeking a Senior Presales Manager – Telecom Solutions to lead complex technical sales engagements with international telecommunications customers. This is a senior, hands-on individual contributor role for someone who can combine strong telecom knowledge with credible customer-facing presales capability. The successful candidate will work directly with customers to understand technical and business challenges, shape end-to-end solutions, explain and defend architectural recommendations, and guide opportunities through the technical sales lifecycle. The role includes discovery workshops, solution presentations, RFI/RFP responses, tenders, demonstrations, PoCs, solution architecture and commercial solution support. A strong technical foundation in fixed or mobile telecom environments, IP networking, protocols and network integration is important, but the successful candidate does not need to be a specialist in every telecom technology. Prior exposure to Lawful Interception, telecom intelligence or cybersecurity is advantageous but is not mandatory. The priority is finding an experienced telecom presales professional who can build customer confidence, learn the client's specialist domain and ultimately operate independently with important customers. The role is fully remote and involves international customer engagement, with travel potentially up to approximately 30% depending on customer and project requirements.

What you will own

  • Lead technical discovery with telecom customers to understand business objectives, network environments, technical constraints and operational requirements.
  • Translate customer requirements into practical end-to-end solution architectures spanning software, networking, infrastructure and integration.
  • Lead or support technical workshops, solution presentations, demonstrations and proofs of concept.
  • Own the technical contribution to RFIs, RFPs, tenders and customer proposals.
  • Explain and defend proposed architectures with technically sophisticated customer stakeholders, consultants and partners.
  • Contribute to solution sizing, capacity planning, BoM/LoM development and technical pricing assumptions.
  • Work closely with Sales throughout the opportunity lifecycle and support the transition from presales into delivery.
  • Translate customer feedback, recurring requirements and market gaps into structured input for Product Management and Engineering.
  • Develop sufficient expertise in the client's specialist telecom intelligence products to progressively manage customer engagements independently.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on experience in telecommunications presales, sales engineering, solution consulting or a closely related customer-facing technical role supporting complex technical sales opportunities.
  • Proven ability to independently lead technical customer discovery sessions, requirements discussions, architecture workshops and solution presentations for telecom operators or similarly complex customers.
  • Strong technical foundation in fixed and/or mobile telecom environments, IP networking, network architecture, protocols, interfaces and integration. Relevant experience may include mobile or packet core, IMS, VoLTE/VoNR, signalling, DPI, OSS/BSS, network intelligence or related telecom technologies.
  • End-to-end technical presales experience covering activities such as RFI/RFP responses, tenders, technical proposals, demonstrations, PoCs and solution definition.
  • Strong solution architecture capability with the ability to translate customer requirements into practical solutions spanning software, networking, infrastructure and integration.
  • Practical understanding of on-premise infrastructure sizing and the ability to contribute meaningfully to capacity planning and BoM/LoM development, including compute, storage, networking, throughput, resilience, high availability and growth assumptions.
  • Strong customer communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly, respond credibly to technical challenge and build customer confidence.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Sales, Product Management, Engineering, Delivery and Support teams.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally up to approximately 30% depending on customer and project requirements.

What success looks like

  • Customers regard you as a credible technical advisor rather than simply a product presenter.
  • You can independently run a customer discovery or architecture discussion and identify the real technical and business problem that needs to be solved.
  • You can translate ambiguous customer requirements into a structured solution and explain why that architecture is appropriate.
  • You are comfortable being technically challenged by experienced telecom customers and know when to answer directly, investigate further or involve a specialist.
  • You can take significant ownership of an opportunity from initial technical discovery through proposal, tender, PoC and technical closure.
  • After learning the client's products and specialist domain, senior leadership can confidently trust you to manage important customer engagements without requiring another senior presales person to be permanently present.
  • You actively bring customer and market insight back into the organisation and help Product Management and Engineering understand where products or solutions should evolve.

Desirable

  • Domain exposure to Lawful Interception (LI), telecom monitoring centres or telecom intelligence platforms.
  • Experience with Deep Packet Inspection (DPI), network analytics, data retention, fraud management or signalling security.
  • Familiarity with 3GPP or ETSI standards and their application within telecom environments.
  • Experience working with government, law-enforcement, regulated or security-sensitive customers.
  • Exposure to designing or supporting secure on-premise or air-gapped deployments.
  • Experience supporting Tier-1 telecom operators or multinational operator groups across multiple countries or regions.
  • Experience feeding customer requirements and market observations into Product Management or R&D discussions.
