We are seeking a distinguished Principal Petroleum Engineer to serve as a key technical authority for our client in the Gulf region's dynamic oil and gas sector. This pivotal role involves leading the formulation of comprehensive reservoir management strategies and long-term field development plans for complex assets. You will be responsible for driving asset value by integrating advanced petroleum engineering principles with rigorous economic evaluation and commercial acumen. The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership on large-scale, integrated projects, ensuring alignment between subsurface, drilling, and production teams. As a senior expert, you will mentor other engineers, champion technical best practices, and play a crucial role in high-stakes investment decisions. Your broad expertise across multiple petroleum engineering disciplines will be essential to maximizing recovery and optimizing financial returns in a commercially focused environment. Requirements
1. Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in petroleum engineering, with a clear trajectory to a principal or technical advisor role.
2. Master's degree or PhD in Petroleum Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
3. Expert-level proficiency in reservoir simulation software (e.g., ECLIPSE, INTERSECT) and classical reservoir engineering.
4. Demonstrated expertise in formulating and executing long-term field development plans and reservoir management strategies.
5. Advanced skills in petroleum economics, probabilistic risk assessment, and asset valuation using tools like PEEP or bespoke financial models.
6. Proven experience in a technical leadership capacity on large-scale, multidisciplinary upstream projects.
7. Deep, hands-on expertise across several core areas such as production optimization, well design and completions, and EOR/IOR techniques.
8. Experience in establishing technical standards, leading formal peer reviews, and mentoring engineering staff.
Desirable
1. Significant operational experience within the Gulf region.
2. An understanding of energy markets, commodity trading, and the commercial drivers influencing upstream investment.
3. Experience presenting complex technical and economic justifications to executive management and external stakeholders.
4. Familiarity with digital oilfield technologies, data analytics, and machine learning applications in reservoir management.
5. Experience working in both operator and major service provider environments.
