Procurement Director

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Procurement Director to lead our fruit procurement operations at a regional level. This senior leadership role requires a seasoned professional with 15-25 years of extensive experience in strategic sourcing, specifically within the fresh produce industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive procurement strategies across multiple sites, ensuring a consistent and high-quality supply of fruits. You will manage key supplier relationships, negotiate complex contracts, and oversee on-site activities including quality control and logistics. This position demands a hands-on leader who can blend high-level regional strategy with practical, on-the-ground operational management. You will lead a team of procurement professionals, fostering their development while driving efficiency and value across the supply chain. Your expertise in fruit seasonality, global markets, and quality standards will be critical to our success.

Requirements

1. Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

2. Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in procurement and strategic sourcing.

3. Demonstrated experience in procuring fruits or other fresh agricultural produce.

4. Proven track record of managing procurement functions across a multi-site, regional scope.

5. Strong experience in hands-on, on-site operational management, including inventory and quality control.

6. Expertise in contract negotiation, supplier relationship management (SRM), and developing sourcing strategies.

7. In-depth knowledge of fruit seasonality, quality assurance standards, and cold chain logistics.

8. Proficiency in using ERP systems and procurement software for data analysis and reporting.

Desirable

1. Master’s degree or MBA.

2. Professional certification such as CIPS, CSCP, or CPSM.

3. Experience with international sourcing and import/export regulations for produce.

4. Background in agribusiness or direct-from-farm sourcing models.

5. Fluency in a second language relevant to key fruit-sourcing regions.
