Senior Network Technician (Network Engineer)
Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Technician to lead the end-to-end delivery, operation, and maintenance of our passive network infrastructure. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, termination, testing, and certification of structured cabling systems, including UTP and fiber optics, according to TIA/ISO standards. You will perform advanced troubleshooting on complex network issues using specialized equipment like OTDR and Fluke testers. The ideal candidate will conduct detailed site surveys, prepare accurate Bills of Quantities (BOQs), and maintain as-built drawings using AutoCAD or Visio. This position requires strong leadership skills to manage field teams and coordinate with active network engineers to ensure project timelines are met. Your expertise will be crucial in maintaining network availability, implementing improvements, and ensuring all work complies with HSE standards.
Requirements
1. 10+ years of overall experience in IT infrastructure/network support, particularly in structured cabling, campus LAN, and data center environments.
2. A minimum of 3-5 years in a Senior Network Technician role, with experience leading field teams and managing multiple work orders.
3. Mandatory Diploma in Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, Electrical, Telecommunications, or a related discipline.
4. Strong expertise in passive cabling technologies including UTP, STP, and fiber optic cabling (single- and multi-core).
5. Proven experience in end-to-end installation, termination, testing, and certification of cabling in line with TIA/ISO standards.
6. Advanced proficiency with network test tools such as OTDR, power meters, and Fluke testers for diagnostics and certification.
7. Experience conducting detailed site surveys and preparing technical documentation like BOQs, as-built drawings, and test reports.
8. Proficiency in using AutoCAD, Visio, or equivalent software for creating and maintaining network drawings.
Desirable
1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology (Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, or a related field).
2. Industry certifications such as CCNA, HCIA, or CompTIA Network+.
3. Structured cabling certifications like BICSI Installer/Technician, FOA CFOT, or manufacturer-specific certifications (e.g., CommScope, Nexans).
4. Experience designing and implementing structured cabling overlays for temporary events or venues.
5. Experience with inventory management systems for passive network components.
