Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Network Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the expert installation, maintenance, and repair of our passive network infrastructure, including UTP, FOC, multi-core, and LAN cabling solutions. This role involves conducting regular system checks, performing thorough site inspections to create detailed reports and Bills of Quantities (BOQ), and managing network component inventory. You will design and implement network cabling overlays for special events and be proficient in using a variety of network tools and testers. Key responsibilities also include mounting and patching active devices, maintaining network drawings, and providing remote support. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative team player with excellent communication skills, capable of creating detailed technical documentation and communicating complex information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
1. A minimum of 8 years of experience in IT Support, with at least 2-3 years in a dedicated Network Technician role.
2. Bachelor’s Engineering degree in Computer Science or Electronics & Communication Science.
3. Demonstrated expertise in the installation, maintenance, and repair of UTP, FOC, multi-core, and LAN cabling.
4. Proficiency in mounting and patching active network devices and managing patching schedules.
5. Skilled in using passive network tools and equipment, including cable testers, crimpers, and fluke testers.
6. Proven ability to perform comprehensive site inspections and generate accurate reports and Bills of Quantities (BOQ).
7. Experience in creating and updating technical documentation, network drawings, and patching matrices.
8. Strong understanding of network infrastructure principles and best practices.
Desirable
1. Professional IT certification such as Certified Information System Auditor (CISA) or equivalent network-related certifications.
2. Experience working in a large-scale event or venue environment.
3. Capability to design network cabling layouts and event-specific temporary installations.
4. Experience with inventory management systems for network components.
5. Excellent communication skills for liaising with non-technical stakeholders.
